{NHolt.1} End of the Line/West Rock
Environmental sculpture
Brownell Hall Dormitory
1985

Nancy Holt creates artwork with a response to place, topography, and local materials.  End of the Line/West Rock conveys the relationship between Southern Connecticut State University and West Rock, a rock outcropping that dominates the skyline.

For the best view of West Rock, stand in the middle of the circular steel plate (on the ground in front of the stone wall) and view through the two circular rings.

The sculpture is 510 feet long and begins with a trail of boulders that progressively grow larger as the viewer approaches the circular viewfinder.
