One of a few women artists to receive acclaim in the 1960's, Lee Bontecou began to dewvelop a strkingly original body of work in the late 1950's. Though she is most widely known for her large scale relief sculptures of canvas and iron, Bontecou produced many drawings and lithographs such as the one purchased for the UConn Law School.
In 2004 a retrospective of Bontecou's work traveled from California across the United States ending at the MOMA in New York City. The exhibition included many works produced during the same timeframe as the print purchased through the Art in Public Spaces program.
