Plain and Painted Parts (image pending)
University of Connecticut, Storrs
interior wall relief mural
plywood, enamel, urethane, latex paint
Early in the development of the project it was understood that the nearly 65 foot high atrium wall planned for the Chemistry Building presented significant challenges. No matter where a viewer stood, in the main lobby or any of the four landings, the work in its entirety would never be experienced. Thus was born Plain and Painted Parts which like Japanese screen reading, draws the viewer horizontally rather than vertically.
