Making the Invisible Visible ~ the Intuitive Intentional


The purpose of this 3-part series is to introduce teaching artistry as a professional career choice for those inclined, to strengthen a network among teaching artists, and to develop mentor relationships between teaching artists. 


Part 1. - OVERVIEW (3-hour session)

Tuesday, March 19, 2013  5:00-8:00 p.m.
Green Street Arts Center, 51 Green Street, Middletown

The vision for the Artist to Artist network is to activate, energize and connect artists statewide.  Artists and teaching artists from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences - from those with experience who want to fine tune their work to those who are interested in exploring the idea of becoming a teaching artist - will  learn from each other and discover mentoring and partnering opportunities with other teaching artists, build bridges to schools and arts organizations, and recognize and replicate exceptional practice.  

Part 2. - CONCENTRATION (3-day workshop)
Wednesday - Friday, March 20-23, 2013  8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Green Street Arts Center, 51 Green Street, Middletown

This Artist to Artist workshop is a 3-day professional development opportunity that delves deeply into what good teaching feels like, sounds like, and looks like.  Participants will learn with and from each other by experiencing quality lessons in the arts, making interesting art, and reflecting together on what they learn.  Explore how collaborative inquiry, using the Artists to Artist Community of Practice model and reflective protocols, expands and deepens one's practice as an educator, teaching artist, administrator and coach.

Part 3. - IMMERSION (Week-long conference)
HOT School Summer Institute
Monday - Friday, July 8 - 12, 2013
Wesleyan University, Middletown

By application only.  Applicants must have successfully completed Part 2. - Concentration workshop.  Applicants must have attended the full 3-days of the workshop.

The HOT School Summer Institute will provide a week-long professional development opportunity for teaching artists to deepen their skills, provide mentorship collaborations and an experimental residency in a HOT School co-taught with a mentor.
