Arts Learning FY17 Grantees

The Arts Learning program awards grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 for the planning and implementation of new or expanded arts in education-based projects that engage partners to advance teaching and learning for birth to grade 12 in a defined community setting.

Pallets of Expression:  Inspiring Young Writers.  A creative writing program with a published author, an award winning musician, and a national Poetry Slam Coach/Poetry Out Loud Mentor
Arts for Learning Connecticut

Art Connects All - a program designed to impact learning and life skill development for students with physical and cognitive disabilities through visual art and movement.
Arts for Healing
New Canaan

ArtWorks Together:  Building Communities Through the Arts - integrated arts therapy sessions for SPED students that builds connections for them through school and community arts experiences.
Architecture Resource Center
 New Haven

The Design Connections Partnership in New Haven Public Schools is a design education initiative for 600 underserved New Haven Public Schools second-grade students and their teachers, math coaches and families.
Area Cooperative Educational Services
North Haven

ACES Arts & Culture Interact:  A year-long arts program designed to expose 660 low-income and special needs students to the arts and cultures of Asian, African and South American nations.
Oswegatchie Elementary School

Project SAIL (Strong Arts Integrated Learning):   Expansion of program to train more teachers and expand opportunities for arts integration for students in the classroom.
Hartford Performs, Inc.

Arts Integration Program for Hartford Public Schools:  Teaching artists work in Hartford classrooms to present arts integration programs that engage students in learning both about the art form and another subject.
Green Street Teaching & Learning Center
 Middletown  $20,000  
Draw, Dance, Discover - Green Street Discovery Afterschool Program focuses on visual and movement arts in Green Street's Afterschool Program and includes classes and workshops with Wesleyan's Center for the Arts
Southington Public Schools  Southington  $19,200  
Southington's Grade 3 Collaborative Art Project:   Art students will collaboratively create a landscape mural (integrating with the social studies curriculum) to be installed along Southington's Rails to Trails
Kinsella Arts, Incorporated
Assessment and Arts integration Through Family Literacy Training:  a family literacy program aimed at providing parents of children with the tools to support their child's education at a critical time in their learning.
Vernon Public Schools
My Rockville Video Discovery Project:  Rockville High School students will use spoken word arts to answer the question, What is my Rockville?  Culminating in a final video project.
East Haddam Elementary School
The Arts of Storytelling:  Second-grade students will learn the arts of storytelling as it corresponds with their multicultural fable/folktale unit and will perform their stories.
