DRS: Durham Man Charged with Failure to Pay Sales/Use Tax

A Durham man was arrested and charged with Violation of Probation for failure to make restitution to the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) for a prior misdemeanor conviction for Failure to File Sales/Use Tax Return.

Anthony Prifitera, age 48, of 251 Tri Mountain Rd., Durham, was arrested by DRS Agents from the Special Investigations Unit and charged with one count of Violation of Probation.

Prifitera was released on a $25,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on June 1, 2016.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Prifitera failed to make restitution to DRS as a condition of his probation for a conviction in 2014 on an arrest dating back to 2011.

The charge is an unclassified misdemeanor, which can bring an imprisonment sentence of up to one year and/or a fine up to $1,000.
