1996 Withholding Certificate Forms


PURPOSE: The purpose of this Announcement is to announce the availability of 1996 Form CT-W4P, Withholding Certificate for Pension or Annuity Payments, 1996 Form CT-W4CS, Request to Withhold Connecticut Income Tax from Civil Service Annuity and 1996 Form CT-W4NA, Employee's Withholding or Exemption Certificate - Nonresident Apportionment.


1996 FORMS CT-W4P, CT-W4CS AND CT-W4NA: Forms CT-W4P, CT-W4CS and CT-W4NA are revised for 1996 and available for use on January 1, 1996. However, continue to use 1995 Form CT-W4, Employee's Withholding or Exemption Certificate, the 1995 Withholding Tables and Calculation Rules and IP 92 (9.2), Is My Connecticut Withholding Correct? until June 30, 1996. Continue to use IP 92(8.2), 1995 Connecticut Circular CT - Employer's Tax Guide as described in AN 95(8), Withholding Rules for Connecticut Employers, until further notice.


EFFECT OF THIS DOCUMENT: An announcement is a document that alerts taxpayers to important information. Such information may involve new administrative policies or procedures of the Department.


EFFECT ON OTHER DOCUMENTS: AN 95(8), Withholding Rules for Connecticut Employers and 1996 Employers's Withholding and Remittance Coupon Book pages 1 and 2 entitled Notice Regarding Connecticut Circular CT are modified and superseded in part by this announcement to the extent they discuss 1995 Forms CT-W4P and CT-W4NA.
